'Marietta Petkova doet op deze live opname de muziek alle eer aan
met haar doorleefde, warmbloedige, evocatieve spel. Je hangt aan haar lippen.’
In this live recording Marietta Petkova honours Debussy’s music with her masterful, warm-blooded, evocative playing. You’re on the edge of your seat.'
Het ParoolIntimiteit is de grote kracht van deze opname. De pianiste wordt wat er staat: Sans rigueur er caressant, aussi légèrement que possible, harmonieux et souple, léger et lointain, doucement expressif, rapide et fuyant. Vertalen is onmogelijk; de Steinway spreekt Frans. Prachtig”.
Bas van Putten
De beste opname van Debussy’s Préludes in decennia!
- Maarten Brandt, musicoloog'I am extremely excited that this recording has been issued. One can never hear Debussy's Préludes often enough! Beautiful music, so expressively interpreted and excellently recorded '
- Elly Ameling, singer
'Petkova's playing is unforgettable (*****)
- Rudolf Nammensma, Leeuwarder Courant
'In an interview some years ago, Petkova said she wants to be the purest possible medium between the composer and the audience. ‘I want to touch a tender spot. That can cause emotions, including anger or exuberance. I don’t want to force anything, but to spark something’. And that is precisely what Petkova achieved at the end of November in The Amsterdam Concertgebouw’s Recital Hall with Chopin and Debussy. In a few months Petkova will release a solo album with the 24 Preludes of Debussy, to be recorded during a live performance in Switzerland. With that recording, which I am waiting for impatiently, she will, without doubt, liberate the composer from the common ‘French’, often reticent and distant, interpretations. And rightly so, because ultimately Debussy’s music contains, well-hidden, elusive veils of emotion, like the microscopic life without wich the oceans would not exist.'
